On April 27, 20 9, a training flight was conducted from the Kalinka landing site in the Khabarovsk district of the Khabarovsk region. The aircraft, a Tungus with registration RA-2843G, was operated by a private individual. The flight was intended to be performed under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) in Class G airspace.
The crew, consisting of the captain and a flight instructor, departed the landing site at 15:09 on a magnetic heading of 227°. While the captain had decided to proceed with the flight based on weather conditions, no notification for the use of airspace was submitted to air traffic control authorities.
During the flight, after the landing gear had been retracted, the aircraft entered a left turn and collided with the ground. The impact resulted in the deaths of both the captain and the flight instructor. The aircraft was destroyed in the accident, though no fire occurred.
Investigation details revealed that the engine failed during the flight due to a lack of fuel supply. This was caused by the closed position of the main fuel line shut-off valves and the total depletion of the reserve tank.
