On April 14, 2018, a Yakovlevs EEVS Z-142, registration RA-1958G, was conducting a training flight in the Usmanovsky district of the Lipetsk region. The flight was intended to restore piloting skills and evaluate techniques, involving a pilot-in-command and an inspector. The flight plan included flying to a designated area, performing a circuit, and executing an approach to an airfield with a simulated engine failure.
The aircraft, RA-1958G, was operated by a private individual and based at the Usmansk (Sharshki) No. 3 airfield. Before departure, the crew received necessary IFR flight permissions from the Moscow Air Traffic Control Center. The pilot-in-command completed a pre-flight inspection, and both crew members passed medical examinations at the airfield medical station.
The flight departed the airfield at 13:25 on a magnetic heading of 300°. During the execution of the training program, which included a simulated engine failure, the aircraft entered a flight state that led to a collision with the ground. The accident resulted in two fatalities, including the pilot-in-command and the inspector.
