What happened
During an ILS approach to runway 30, the pilot-in-command was operating the aircraft. Data from the cockpit voice recorder indicates that the flight crew struggled to maintain a stabilized approach. The aircraft initially experienced an overspeed condition during the early stages of the descent, which caused the plane to deviate from the localizer.
While attempting to correct the flight path and re-align with the localizer, the pilot allowed the airspeed to drop significantly. This reduction in speed triggered the activation of the stick-shaker, signaling an impending stall. The stall condition persisted until the aircraft lost controlled flight and struck the ground.
Findings
Investigation of the wreckage and flight data revealed no evidence of mechanical failures or malfunctions prior to the impact. The accident resulted in three fatalities and no survivors.
