What happened
A local skydiving operation departed from Ampfing-Waldkraels Airfield, carrying one pilot and nine passengers. After reaching an altitude of 3,500 meters, the aircraft passed over the intended jump zone, at which point a group of four skydivers exited the plane.
During the subsequent jump sequence, as a second group prepared to depart, an accidental deployment of an emergency parachute occurred while one individual was exiting the aircraft. This deployment caused the skydiver to collide with the right stabilizer of the aircraft type, resulting in the component being torn from the airframe. Following this structural failure, the aircraft became uncontrollable. The pilot managed to transmit a distress signal before abandoning the aircraft alongside the remaining passengers.
The plane eventually crash-landed in a field located near Haun, sustaining damage that rendered it a total loss. While all nine skydivers survived the incident without injury, the pilot was killed when his parachute failed to deploy correctly.
Findings
Investigations into the accident indicated that the primary factor leading to the loss of control was the impact of a skydiver against the right stabilizer, which caused the part to detach from the aircraft.
