What happened

On a flight traveling from Steinbach toward Webequie, the pilot of a twin engine aircraft contacted air traffic control to report the plane's position, located approximately 64 km north of Pickle Lake. Shortly after this communication, the aircraft went down in the vicinity of Nibinamik, situated southwest of the intended destination.

Search efforts led to the discovery of the wreckage on September 23 in a remote and isolated location. The accident resulted in two fatalities, as both occupants on board were killed in the impact. The exact circumstances surrounding the descent and subsequent crash remain under investigation.
