What happened

During an afternoon flight from Pereira-Macareña Airport to Bogotá-El Dorado Airport, a twin engine aircraft experienced a catastrophic failure. While cruising at an altitude of 15,000 feet, the crew received clearance to begin their descent toward runway 13R at Bogotá. Shortly after initiating this phase of the flight, the aircraft began an uncontrolled descent.

The plane eventually struck a wooded region situated approximately 42 km northwest of Bogotá Airport. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. There were eight fatalities recorded, as all two pilots and six passengers on board perished in the accident.
