What happened
During the initial climb phase following departure from runway 20 at San Cristóbal-Paramillo Airport, a twin engine airplane experienced a significant loss of control. Immediately after rotation, the aircraft began a left-side roll that progressed until the plane was nearly inverted. This maneuver led to a crash in the vicinity of the runway, which was followed by a massive post-crash explosion.
The impact and subsequent intense fire completely destroyed the aircraft. There were two fatalities among the occupants of the plane.
Findings
Investigation into the flight dynamics revealed a critical power imbalance during the takeoff sequence. While the right engine was operating at nearly full power, the left engine was found to be windmilling during the rotation phase. This asymmetric engine power contributed to the uncontrolled roll and subsequent loss of altitude.
