What happened
During the initial climb phase from Novaya Derevnya, the aircraft experienced a significant left roll of 35 degrees at an altitude of approximately 10 metres. This maneuver resulted in a loss of altitude, leading the plane to strike trees located roughly 145 metres from the departure point. The impact caused the aircraft to be destroyed beyond repair. Both pilots sustained injuries during the accident.
Findings
The investigation determined that the aircraft entered a stall while climbing because snow and ice/frost were present on the wings, tail, and fuselage. Several operational failures contributed to this condition:
- The crew did not perform a thorough inspection of the aircraft before takeoff.
- Flight preparations were not conducted in accordance with established procedures.
- There was a failure to implement necessary deicing or cleaning processes prior to departure.
