What happened
During an approach to Purnema Airstrip, the flight crew was required to perform a go-around, though the specific reason for this initial maneuver was not determined. While attempting a second landing, the single-engine aircraft drifted away from the established approach pattern and the intended glide path. This deviation resulted in a loss of airspeed, leading the aircraft to enter a stall.
As a result of the stall, the plane impacted the terrain approximately 57 metres before reaching the runway threshold. Although the impact caused the aircraft to be damaged beyond repair, there were no casualties among the passengers or crew. All 17 occupants managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries.
Findings
- The aircraft deviated from its prescribed flight path and glide slope.
- A loss of airspeed led to an aerodynamic stall prior to touchdown.
