What happened
On the morning of the incident, an aircraft departed Jodhpur at 0940 UTC, heading toward Udaipur via route W58. The flight was cruising at FL 100, where the crew encountered persistent turbulence. After being denied a request for a higher altitude by Jodhpur ATC, the pilot proceeded to contact Udaipur ATC approximately 50 NM from the destination.
During the approach to runway 26, the pilot requested a visual approach via a right base. While configuring the aircraft, the crew attempted to select the 10-degree flap setting, but the system failed to respond, triggering a 'Flaps-Fail' alert. The crew subsequently executed the necessary checklists for a flapless landing.
At 1004 UTC, the aircraft was cleared for landing. As the aircraft descended to approximately 20 to 30 feet above the ground, it encountered a sudden down-draft. This caused the aircraft type to strike the runway with significant force. The heavy impact resulted in the bursting of both main landing gear tires, starting with the right tire. Following the impact, the aircraft traveled along the runway centerline for roughly 1,000 feet before veering toward the right side of the runway. The aircraft eventually exited the runway shoulder and came to a final stop after colliding with the airport boundary wall.
There were five passengers and the crew on board, and no injuries were reported during the event.
