What happened
On June 2, 2015, a Cessna T206H, registration N666AH, was conducting a private IFR flight from Donaueschingen, Germany, to Calvi Sainte-Catherine, France. The aircraft was carrying a pilot and four passengers.
Upon arrival at the airfield, the pilot performed a locator approach for runway 18, followed by a visual maneuver. During the subsequent final approach for runway 36, the aircraft was configured with 20° of flaps. During the landing roll, the aircraft bounced due to a wind gust. The pilot was unable to maintain control of the aircraft's trajectory, and during the final bounce, the rear of the fuselage made contact with the runway. The aircraft sustained heavy damage.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of the landing and the environmental conditions at the time of the accident. The pilot, holding a private pilot license with 1,320 total flight hours, provided testimony regarding the event. Data confirmed that the aircraft's weight and balance were within the manufacturer's specified limits.
Meteorological conditions at the aerodrome were reported as CAVOK, with winds from 030° at 10 knots, varying between 360° and 060°.
