What happened
On 20 June 2000, a Cessna T210M, registered as ZS-MFL, was conducting a private flight from Tuli toward Lanseria. During the flight, the pilot encountered overcast and deteriorating weather conditions. In response to the worsening visibility and weather, the pilot decided to perform a precautionary landing on a road located northwest of Thabazimbi.
As the aircraft was executing the landing roll on the roadway, the left wing made contact with a bush situated adjacent to the road. This impact caused the aircraft to veer off the pavement, resulting in a significant excursion.
The investigation
The investigation focused on the sequence of events leading to the aircraft's departure from the roadway. Investigators established that the flight was being operated by CC Flight Partnership for private purposes. The crew consisted of five people, and there were no fatalities or injuries reported following the incident.
Findings
Technical examination of the wreckage revealed that the aircraft sustained severe damage to the left wing and the left undercarriage. The investigation concluded that the primary factor in the accident was the left wing contacting vegetation during the landing roll, which subsequently forced the aircraft off the road.
