What happened
A charter flight operating from Vladivostok to Minsk was in the process of departing when an incident occurred during the takeoff roll. The aircraft, carrying a total of 67 occupants—comprising 62 Lithuanian passengers and five crew members—reached a speed of 320 km/h. At this point, the captain attempted to rotate the aircraft, but the aircraft failed to respond to the rotation command.
In response to the lack of lift, the crew executed emergency braking maneuvers. The aircraft had reached a point approximately 1,000 metres from the end of the 3,500-metre runway. Despite the application of brakes, the aircraft could not stop within the remaining runway length. The aircraft subsequently overran the runway at a speed of 200 km/h. During the excursion, the nose gear was lost, and the aircraft traveled an additional 283 metres beyond the runway threshold. All 67 individuals on board evacuated the aircraft without injury, though the aircraft was determined to be a total loss due to the extent of the damage.
Findings
- The aircraft failed to respond to the pilot's attempt to rotate during the takeoff roll.
- The aircraft overran the runway after failing to stop within the remaining 1,000 metres of pavement.
