As the aircraft was performing its takeoff roll, one of the two left-side engines suffered an explosion and subsequent fire.
Following the engine failure, the aircraft became uncontrollable. A significant fire broke out, resulting in the partial destruction of the aircraft type.
Findings
There were nine crew members on board at the time of the incident. The accident resulted in nine total injuries, with the pilot sustaining serious wounds. While the initial impact and fire caused immediate injuries to all personnel, two of the survivors later succumbed to their injuries several hours after the event.
