What happened
On July 2, 2006, at approximately 09:55 UTC, a Socata TB-10, registration OK-PEK, was involved in a ground accident at the Kladno Aeroclub airfield. The aircraft, operated by Alpin Praha-divize speciálních prací s.r.o., was being moved from a hangar toward a fuel dispensing station for refueling.
While taxiing across the grass area between the hangar and the fuel station, the pilot failed to disconnect the handling tow bar. As the aircraft moved over uneven terrain, the tow bar swung into contact with the propeller. The impact resulted in damage to the leading edges of both propeller blades and caused a puncture to the leading edge of the left wing, approximately 60 cm from the fuselage. The handling tow bar was also destroyed in the process.
There were no injuries to the pilot or any other persons, and no other damages were reported.
The investigation
The ÚZPLN investigation established that the pilot, who was also the owner of the aircraft, was authorized to taxi the aircraft. The investigation focused on the sequence of events during the movement from the hangar to the refueling point. The investigators examined the terrain conditions and the state of the aircraft, noting that the meteorological conditions and the airfield infrastructure were not contributing factors to the incident.
