What happened
A twin-engine aircraft was conducting a multi-leg journey from Amman to London, with scheduled stops planned for Beirut and Athens. The flight was operating on behalf of the Jordanian Government, transporting four high-ranking officers from the Jordanian Air Force (Arab Legion Air Force) along with two crew members.
During the transit over Turkish airspace, the aircraft struck a mountain slope within the Taurus Mountain Range, situated approximately 30 km southwest of Karaman. Following the failure of the flight to reach its intended destination in Athens, search and rescue operations were initiated. These efforts continued for several days before being halted when no evidence of the wreckage or the passengers was located.
It was not until six months after the disappearance that the debris from the crash was discovered in a remote, isolated location. All six occupants of the aircraft, including the crew and the military officials, were killed in the impact.
Findings
The investigation into the disappearance concluded that the aircraft struck terrain while flying over the Taurus Mountains.
