What happened
During the landing phase at Agadir Airport, a significant mechanical failure occurred involving the aircraft's landing gear. As the plane touched down, the tire on the right main gear experienced a sudden burst. This failure caused the aircraft to veer uncontrollably for approximately 100 meters along the runway.
As the plane continued its movement, the right main gear subsequently collapsed under the stress of the incident. The aircraft eventually came to a halt on the runway surface. Following an assessment of the structural damage sustained during the excursion, the aircraft was declared a total loss and deemed beyond repair.
Despite the severity of the gear collapse and the subsequent runway excursion, there were no casualties among those on board. All 36 occupants remained unharmed throughout the event.
Findings
Investigations into the incident concluded that the primary sequence of events was initiated by a tire burst on the right main landing gear, which directly led to the subsequent collapse of the undercarriage.
