The airplane departed RAF Feni on an operation against Japanese positions in the Chin Hills. It was shot down by enemy fire, lost its right propeller and crashed some 42 km east-northeast of Hakha. All three crew members were killed. Crew: W/Cdr Alan William Pennington-Legh, pilot, F/Lt Robert John Ingram, navigator, F/Lt Bernard Burnley, wireless operator and air gunner. Probable cause (official findings): Shot down by enemy fire.
