Air Corsica grounds three ATR 72s and leases replacement aircraft

Air Corsica has withdrawn three of its ATR 72 turboprops from service as a precaution and is bringing in aircraft from other carriers to fill the gap, the airline said.

The replacements include an Airbus A319 from Amelia, an ATR 72 from Chalair and an Airbus A350 from Air Caraïbes. Together with the carrier's own Airbus aircraft, they are to operate more than 100 substitute flights through the end of October.

Air Corsica said the groundings follow technical events that may be linked to components of the aircraft's air conditioning systems. The cause is being investigated together with ATR and partners covering engines and equipment. The airline has not said how many of its ATR 72s are affected. According to France 3 Corse, four or five of the seven turboprops in the fleet are involved.
