Alaska Airlines adds premium suites, cabins and lounges in premium push

Alaska Airlines is expanding its premium offering with new lie-flat suites, refreshed cabins, a dedicated premium economy class and new lounges in Seattle and Honolulu.

Its highest-end seat will be the "Aurora" suite, described by the carrier as fully lie-flat with direct aisle access. It has upgraded upholstery, storage, a 19-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth, charging ports and what the airline calls restaurant-quality dining. Aurora passengers also get access to an exclusive check-in and concierge service at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, plus an Aurora Lounge that is still to come. No equivalent exists on Alaska's 737s today, which have no premium lie-flat seats.

Alaska plans 34 Aurora suites on its Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with sliding privacy doors. Another 12 will go on at least 25 737 MAX 10 aircraft assigned to transcontinental routes.

On the Hawaiian Airlines side, the 24 Airbus A330s will get entirely new interiors starting in 2028, the airline said. The full cabin will gain 4K screens and Bluetooth. Hawaiian's previously announced Leihōkū suites will also be revised, adding sliding privacy doors, lie-flat seating, direct aisle access and hotel-quality bedding, alongside a 19-inch 4K screen and curated dining with wine pairings.
