Avianca resumes Bogotá–Caracas flights, adds Maracaibo service

Avianca has resumed daily flights between Bogotá and Caracas. The first resumed flight operated on 1 September. The airline said the decision followed an assessment of operational and security conditions with the relevant authorities. It offered no further details on that process.

The carrier also launched a new daily service between Bogotá and Maracaibo. That route began on 28 August. Maracaibo is in northwestern Venezuela. The new flight is separate from the Caracas resumption. Both routes increase direct connections between Colombia and Venezuela.

Avianca did not specify which aircraft types will operate the two routes. The airline said the moves strengthen air connectivity between the two countries. It did not provide a full list of other destinations in Venezuela. The Caracas route had been suspended; the airline did not state for how long. The Maracaibo route is new. Both services are daily, according to the announcement.

No further details were given about schedules or frequencies beyond daily operation. The Colombian airline already serves other international destinations, but the announcement focused on Venezuela. The two routes represent an expansion of Avianca's network.
