Bell has begun building the first AH-1Z Viper for Nigeria's air force. Nigerian representatives visited the company's plant in Amarillo, Texas, and signed the first of the attack helicopters destined for the country.

Under a US Foreign Military Sales agreement, the manufacturer will deliver twelve AH-1Z helicopters to Nigeria, along with technical services, programme management and logistics support.

Bell says production of the twelve helicopters should be complete in early 2029. Nigeria plans to use the AH-1Z for missions including operations against terrorism and insurgents.
