The Boeing 747 has held a distinctive place in global air freight for over half a century. Its large capacity, long range, and nose-loading door let operators carry cargo that could not be loaded efficiently on conventional widebody aircraft.
That era is closing. Production of the jumbo jet is nearing its end, and stricter emissions standards are pushing airlines and cargo operators to reassess their fleets.
