EFW signs first direct NH90 maintenance contract with German army

MRO provider EFW has won a seven-year deal to maintain NH90 helicopters for the German armed forces, its first direct contract with the military.

EFW, a Dresden-based maintenance, repair and overhaul specialist, has secured a seven-year contract to service NH Industries NH90 troop transport helicopters operated by the German army. The work covers routine inspections, potential modifications and component repairs, all to be carried out at the company's Dresden site.

This is the first time EFW has worked directly with the German armed forces. Previously the company had supported the NH90 only as a subcontractor. EFW is co-owned by ST Engineering of Singapore, which holds a 55 percent stake, and Airbus, which owns the rest.

The company said the new role strengthens its position in the military rotary-wing market and could lead to further contracts. The NH90 is built by NH Industries, a consortium of Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo Helicopters and GKN/Fokker.
