Embraer and Honeywell investigate GPS instability affecting E2 regional jets
Embraer is working with Honeywell to identify a GPS signal instability issue affecting E2-family regional jets, saying supplemental navigation equipment and procedures keep operations safe despite possible schedule disruption.

Embraer is working with Honeywell, its avionics supplier, on a navigation system problem affecting the E2 family of regional jets. The manufacturer said it has received reports of GPS instability on aircraft types including the E2. What causes it is not yet known.
Embraer says the E2 fleet carries supplemental navigation equipment and procedures that let the aircraft operate in these conditions. It said it is giving technical support to customers and taking the actions needed to address the issue. The occurrence may affect airlines' operational schedules, but there is no impact on flight safety, according to the company.
Honeywell supplies the Primus Epic 2 avionics suite for the E2 cockpit. It said it is aware of a problem affecting aircraft related to the reception of GPS signals, and its teams are assessing the matter to identify the cause.
Azul, the Brazilian carrier, is reportedly among the affected operators. A communication purportedly from Embraer's technical support division suggests a system reset can restore the GPS signal, though the condition can return afterwards.
Embraer said it is monitoring the situation closely with operators and the equipment manufacturer.
