The father was flying United Airlines Flight 108 and was talking with air traffic control before takeoff when another voice came over the frequency. "Pops?" It was his daughter, who was flying CommutAir Flight 4977 as United Express. She had recognized his voice.
He asked where she was. Holding short of Runway 1R, she said, about to depart. Another pilot on the frequency then asked if she was his daughter and told him he should be a proud father.
The other pilot asked if the daughter was living at home. The father laughed and said she had moved out but was still on his cell phone plan. The other pilot advised him not to let her off the plan until she got married, saying he had stayed on his mother's plan until he married.
