Former China Southern A380s stored in Mojave listed for dismantling
Several Airbus A380s retired by China Southern Airlines and ferried to the Mojave Air and Space Port are being offered for dismantling. At least four of the stored jets are listed as aircraft in dismantle.
Several Airbus A380s formerly flown by China Southern Airlines have been ferried to the Mojave Air and Space Port in California and placed in storage after the carrier withdrew its fleet of five superjumbos.
At least four of the aircraft are now listed by Jet Midwest as "aircraft in dismantle," indicating that they are expected to be broken up for component recovery instead of returning to passenger service.
The A380 was designed to stay in service for decades, carrying hundreds of passengers between the world's largest airports. The stored China Southern jets have instead been parked in the desert.
