A Frontier Airlines flight from Florida landed at Philadelphia International Airport on Monday afternoon and was met by emergency medical personnel after a passenger became unresponsive in the cabin.
Flight 2538, an Airbus A321neo registered N648FR, had departed Tampa International Airport. The crew declared a medical emergency at about 4:00 p.m. local time while on final approach to Philadelphia. Pilots told air traffic control that a passenger in seat 22A was unresponsive and that an overdose was suspected, and asked for paramedics to be waiting at the arrival gate.
Medical professionals travelling as passengers on the flight assisted in the cabin. The crew requested priority handling.
The aircraft landed on Runway 27R at 4:20 p.m. and taxied to Terminal D, where local emergency medical services were staged to take over the passenger's care.
