L3Harris Technologies has completed the first 35 AN/ALQ-254(V)1 Viper Shield electronic protection systems for the General Dynamics F-16. The system detects and jams hostile radar signals to defend against radar-guided missiles, and can be fitted inside the aircraft or carried in an external pod.

Viper Shield was developed for the F-16 Block 70/72 but also works with older F-16 versions. Eight allied nations have ordered it, with 233 units on order in total. L3Harris is now moving production to full rate.
