RBF Morph releases simulation platform combining AI and virtual reality

Italian software firm RBF Morph has launched rbfCAE, a platform that merges artificial intelligence, virtual reality and engineering simulation for product design and evaluation.

RBF Morph has released rbfCAE, a platform that combines artificial intelligence and virtual reality with engineering simulation to assess complex products during design.

The Italian company has worked on mesh-morphing and simulation technology for around twenty years. It said the platform pairs AI and VR with reduced-order modeling run at high performance, for designers, analysts and decision-makers who need to work together more quickly.

According to RBF Morph, its mesh-morphing tools generate geometric variants and synthetic datasets at speed, and these feed the platform's AI. The software builds and trains reduced-order models that rely on proper orthogonal decomposition and deep learning. Those models estimate how a new geometry will behave aerodynamically, structurally or thermally in moments, and the platform gives a reliability estimate alongside the result.

Virtual reality is built in. Designers, engineers and other stakeholders can enter a three-dimensional model, alter its geometry, watch performance change as they do so, and hold discussions about the changes from different locations. RBF Morph said this speeds up decisions, letting companies review design alternatives in a short time instead of waiting days for one simulation to finish.

Connectors link the platform to major industrial and open-source solvers. Different physics and models can then be kept in step inside a single automated workflow, cutting manual work and supporting processes that use more than one solver. RBF Morph said this enables companies to carry out such work more easily.
