Safran takes minority stake in French propulsion specialist Akira
Safran has acquired a minority stake in Akira, a French developer of propulsion systems, through its investment arm. The companies already collaborate on the RISE engine demonstrator and research into hybrid and hydrogen combustion.

Safran's venture arm, Safran Corporate Ventures, has taken a minority stake in Akira, a French company that develops and tests propulsion systems. The size of the investment was not disclosed.
Akira will use the funds to expand production and testing capacity and to start manufacturing small and medium-sized series.
Akira already works with several Safran divisions, including on the RISE engine demonstrator and on research into hybrid propulsion and hydrogen combustion, according to the source.
