Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 returns to Mashhad after vibrations and cabin panel damage
A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 returned to Mashhad shortly after departure after technical problems and severe vibrations that dislodged ceiling panels, according to reports. No one was injured.
A Boeing 737 operated by Sepehran Airlines returned to Mashhad on Sunday, 13 September, shortly after taking off, after the crew declared an emergency, reported Rokna News. No injuries were reported and the aircraft landed safely.
The flight had already been cancelled twice the previous day because of a technical fault. On the third attempt a further problem arose and the airline swapped the aircraft, according to Rokna News. The replacement, another 737, suffered a technical failure during takeoff. Rokna News said a tyre burst and that engine problems were also reported.
Videos filmed inside the cabin showed heavy vibration, during which large sections of ceiling trim came loose and fell into the aisle. Passengers panicked and shouts can be heard on the recordings.
The episode comes about three weeks after another incident involving a Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 at the same airport. In that earlier case, the jet, registered EP-FSF, had arrived as flight IS4310 from Tehran-Mehrabad. After landing on runway 13L it veered to the right and came to a stop, according to the account.
