Swissport and Etihad expand ground handling partnership to 40 airports

Etihad Airways and Swissport have signed a letter of intent to widen their ground handling and cargo cooperation from 30 to 40 airports worldwide.

Etihad Airways and Swissport plan to broaden their global cooperation, according to a letter of intent signed at the Arabian Travel Market trade fair. Under the agreement, Swissport would support the airline at 40 airports, up from 30 at present.

The ten additional locations are spread across Africa, Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia. The arrangement covers ground handling and cargo services.

The two companies are also examining an extension of the partnership to Swissport's Aspire airport lounges, a brand that operates 110 lounges worldwide. Automation, artificial intelligence, data-based applications and autonomous ground vehicles are also to play a role in the further cooperation.
