TAP Air Portugal names José Eduardo Moreira as new chief operating officer

TAP Air Portugal has a new operations chief. José Eduardo Moreira will take over as Chief Operating Officer, the Portuguese carrier said, effective from the announcement made on Friday, August 28.

He replaces Mário Chaves, who resigned from TAP's board of directors and, with that, from his post as operations chief, according to the airline.

Moreira is a longtime figure at the company. He has worked at TAP since 1998 and most recently held the role of director general for maintenance and engineering. Earlier in his career, the airline said, he worked in engine maintenance and in engineering and airworthiness.

TAP gave no further details about the timing of Chaves's departure or the reasons for it. The airline also did not say whether more management changes are expected to follow.
