UK passengers sue Singapore Airlines over 2024 turbulence flight
Several British passengers have filed lawsuits against Singapore Airlines following a severe turbulence incident on flight SQ321 in May 2024, one of whom lost her husband in the event.
Multiple British passengers have brought legal action against Singapore Airlines over a severe turbulence event that struck flight SQ321 in May 2024, according to a report by The Independent. Among the claimants is Linda Kitchen, whose 73-year-old husband Geoff died following the incident.
The flight, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER travelling from London to Singapore, encountered severe turbulence over Myanmar. The aircraft reportedly dropped around 54 metres in altitude in under five seconds. Kitchen is said to have suffered a suspected heart attack, while his wife sustained spinal fractures.
The aircraft diverted to Bangkok following the incident. There were 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board at the time.
Singapore Airlines has declined to comment on the lawsuits, citing ongoing legal proceedings.
