Vertical Aerospace names former Airbus executive Fabrice Bregier as chair
Vertical Aerospace has appointed Fabrice Bregier, formerly head of Airbus's commercial aircraft division, as its chair from 21 September. He takes over from interim chair Ben Story, who stays on the board.
Vertical Aerospace said Fabrice Bregier will become its new chair on 21 September. He replaces Ben Story, who held the role on an interim basis after Domhnal Slattery left in May. Story stays on Vertical's board.
Bregier was chief executive of Airbus's commercial aircraft business from 2012 to 2016, and twice served as the group's chief operating officer, from 2006 to 2012 and again from 2017 to 2018. The announcement credits him with leading a turnaround at the manufacturer and work on the A350 widebody.
In remarks released with the appointment, Bregier said his career had centred on bringing complex aerospace technologies to market, expanding aircraft programmes and building international businesses around them. He said Vertical had strong staff, product and strategy for an aviation business.
Vertical is working towards certification of its Valo electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft in 2029.
