The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued Recommendation A-11-088, identified by reference number DCA10RA092. This directive is addressed to the Federal Aviation Administration and urges the agency to require operators conducting flights under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 121, Part 135, and Part 91 subpart K to include specific tactile, hands-on training in their initial and recurrent safety programs. The recommended training must cover the use of operable oxygen mask and goggle sets. Specifically, operators are asked to ensure that crew members receive practical instruction on using the regulator’s emergency selector and properly venting smoke goggles during these mandatory training sessions.
