Safety recommendation
The National Transportation Safety Board has directed the organization to enhance spectator and personnel safety near the race course.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued a formal recommendation, designated as A-12-015, to the Reno Air Racing Association regarding specific safety measures for the event. The NTSB identified the need to raise the level of safety for both spectators and personnel located near the race course. To address these concerns, the Board instructed the association to take two primary actions. First, the fuel truck must be relocated away from the ramp area. Second, the association is required to install barriers in front of any area where spectators are present that are more substantial than those currently in place. These directives aim to mitigate risks associated with the current setup at the venue.
