The National Transportation Safety Board has issued recommendation ERA10FA140, designated as A-12-022, addressed to the Federal Aviation Administration. This directive instructs the agency to mandate that installers document in the Description of Work Accomplished block of Federal Aviation Administration Form 337 how they determined the compatibility and interaction between a new supplemental type certificate and previously installed supplemental type certificates on an aircraft. The purpose of this documentation requirement is to demonstrate that the installation of the new supplemental type certificate will not adversely affect the aircraft’s structural strength, performance, or flight characteristics.
