The National Transportation Safety Board has issued a safety recommendation to the Federal Aviation Administration regarding ice accretion protocols.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released safety recommendation CEN09MA142, designated as A-12-024. This directive is addressed to the Federal Aviation Administration and specifically concerns Avions de Transport Régional (ATR) 42-series airplanes operating within the United States. The NSB urges the FAA to require that these aircraft incorporate a revised stick pusher activation angle of attack. The goal of this modification is to ensure that the stick pusher activates before the stall angle of attack occurs when airframe ice accretions are present. This measure aims to enhance flight safety during icing conditions by providing earlier warning and control input assistance to pilots.
