Safety recommendation

The National Transportation Safety Board has directed the Federal Aviation Administration to require updated registration forms for aircraft with newly installed explosive-component safety devices.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued Recitation A-12-066, designated as ERA12FA149, addressed directly to the Federal Aviation Administration. This recommendation mandates that aircraft owners must submit a new Federal Aviation Administration Form 8050-1A if they have installed a safety device containing an explosive component under a supplemental type certificate since their most recent triennial re-registration. The purpose of this directive is to ensure the FAA receives updated information regarding these newly installed devices, thereby maintaining accurate records of such safety equipment on registered aircraft.
