The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued Safety Recommendation A-13-002, designated as DCA12MA020, addressed directly to the Federal Aviation Administration. This recommendation urges the FAA to encourage both operators and manufacturers to develop and implement best practices for conducting maintenance under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 135 and 91 Subpart K. Specifically, the NTSB highlights the importance of using work cards for maintenance tasks, particularly those involving safety-critical functions. These practices should promote the recording and verification of delineated steps in the task that, if improperly completed, could lead to a loss of control.
