The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued safety recommendation A-14-020, identified under reference number WPR10GA113. This directive is addressed specifically to the National Weather Service. The NTSB urges the agency to establish a protocol that will enhance communication among meteorologists at the center weather service units, the Aviation Weather Center, and, as applicable, other National Weather Service facilities. The primary objective of this new protocol is to ensure mutual situation awareness of critical aviation weather data among meteorologists at those respective facilities. This recommendation aims to improve information sharing across these key meteorological entities to support aviation safety.
