Safety recommendation

The National Transportation Safety Board has directed the union to collaborate with United Parcel Service on an independent review of their fatigue event reporting system.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued a formal recommendation, designated as A-14-089 and associated with investigation number DCA13MA133, addressed directly to the Independent Pilots Association. This directive urges the organization to work closely with United Parcel Service (UPS) to conduct an independent review of the fatigue event reporting system currently in place. The primary objective of this review is to determine the effectiveness of the program as a nonpunitive mechanism designed to identify and address reported fatigue issues among pilots. Following the completion of this assessment, the NTSB requires that changes be implemented based on the findings to enhance the overall safety effectiveness of the program.
