The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released Recommendation A-16-004, designated as ENG15IA024, addressed directly to Bombardier, Inc. This recommendation mandates that the manufacturer add a specific emergency procedure checklist and revise existing training materials for all Bombardier DHC-8 airplanes. The updated procedures must explicitly instruct flight crews to treat the immediate shutdown of windshield heat as a memory item. This action is required in the event of windshield arcing, smoke, fire, or overheating to ensure rapid crew response and enhanced safety protocols.
