Safety recommendation

The NTSB has directed the NBAA to develop enhanced pilot training guidelines for single-pilot turbofan operations in icing conditions.

The National Transportation Safety Board, identified by report number DCA15MA029, has issued Recommendation A-16-014 addressed to the National Business Aviation Association. This directive urges the association to collaborate with its members who are manufacturers and training providers of turbofan airplanes. These specific aircraft require a type rating and are certified for single-pilot operations as well as flight in icing conditions. The core objective is to develop enhanced pilot training guidelines that focus on risk management during winter weather operations. These guidelines must cover the proper use of ice protection systems and strict adherence to checklists. Special emphasis should be placed on addressing deficiencies in pilot performance that were identified in the referenced accident. The association is further instructed to make the results of this effort available to the community of pilots who operate these airplanes.
