The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued Safety Recommendation A-16-023 addressed to the Federal Aviation Administration. This directive urges the agency to continue working with the aviation industry to develop the necessary technology. The goal is to outfit transport-category airplanes with equipment and procedures that can routinely calculate, record, and convey the braking ability required or available to slow or stop the airplane during the landing roll. The NTSB notes that Safety Recommendations A-16-023 and A-16-024 supersede the earlier Safety Recommendation A-07-064. This action highlights a continued focus on enhancing safety protocols for commercial aviation operations through technological advancement and regulatory cooperation.
