Safety recommendation

The National Transportation Safety Board has directed the Federal Aviation Administration to collaborate with Textron Aviation and training centers on stabilized approach criteria for specific aircraft models.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued safety recommendation A-16-037, identified by reference number CEN16MA036, addressed directly to the Federal Aviation Administration. This directive urges the FAA to work in conjunction with Textron Aviation and Hawker 700- and 800-series training centers. The goal is to develop and incorporate into pilot training programs for these specific aircraft models a nonprecision approach procedure. This new procedure must align with the stabilized approach criteria outlined in Advisory Circular 120-71A. A key objective of this recommendation is to eliminate configuration changes at low altitudes during these approaches, thereby enhancing operational safety standards for pilots operating Hawker 700 and 800 series aircraft.
