Safety recommendation

The National Transportation Safety Board has directed Embraer, in cooperation with Parker Aerospace and Woodward HRT, to revise acceptance test procedures for critical nosewheel steering components.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued Recommendation A-17-002, designated under reference number DCA13WA123, addressed to Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica, S.A.). This directive requires the manufacturer to work in cooperation with Parker Aerospace and Woodward HRT to study and revise the acceptance test procedures for the nosewheel steering manifold assembly and electrohydraulic servo valve. These specific components are installed on Embraer EMB-135, EMB-140, and EMB-145 aircraft models. The primary objective of this revised procedure is to ensure that any foreign object debris present within these systems can be adequately identified during testing. This recommendation aims to enhance safety standards by addressing potential contamination risks in the manufacturing or maintenance verification process for these specific aircraft types.
