Safety recommendation
The National Transportation Safety Board has directed the Federal Aviation Administration to review manufacturing processes for electrohydraulic servo valves used in Embraer EMB-135, EMB-140, and EMB-145 aircraft.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued safety recommendation A-17-004 to the Federal Aviation Administration. This directive addresses concerns related to uncommanded nosewheel steering anomalies that could occur in Embraer EMB-135, EMB-140, and EMB-145 aircraft. The NSB urges the FAA to review the manufacturing process and quality control program of Woodward HRT for their electrohydraulic servo valves. The agency is asked to require improvements designed to eliminate manufacturing or assembly errors and nonconformances that may lead to these steering issues. Furthermore, the recommendation instructs the FAA to monitor and verify the effectiveness of any improvements implemented in response to this safety concern.
